Qigong is an ancient practice originally developed over 4000 years ago by Chinese monks as a moving meditation. Simply put, ‘qi’ can be translated as ‘energy’ and ‘gong’ as ‘training’. It is a gentle form of exercise devised to harmonise the flow of energy in the body, which entails using relaxation and concentration to achieve effortless, natural movement.
Wendy can help you improve your health, fitness and wellbeing with Qigong classes, reflexology or massage therapy. The Qigong classes consist of guided meditation through breath work and slow, easy flowing movements. The classes are aimed at helping you to counter the stresses of the day and to leave you feeling calmer and more grounded. They focus on promoting relaxation, health and wellbeing. If you struggle with seated meditation, this type of standing and moving meditation may work for you.

Gemma’s unique story and world first achievements have been recognised across the medical world and lead to the industry body broadcasting her interview to encourage up and coming healthcare professionals to study Osteopathy and to demonstrate the wide reaching applications of this qualification. Having always been fascinated by the human body and wanting to play an active part in helping people understand their health, studying osteopathy appeared to be a route that would satisfy an analytical mind that always sought to answer the ‘Why’ aspect of diagnoses and provide me with the tools to deliver effective, personalised healthcare. Prior to becoming an Osteopath, I was already qualified in gym instructing and personal training but the initial role certainly presented different challenges whereby many of your clients were expected to be mechanics 90% of the time, yet perform like elite athletes for an extremely important 10%! My former work with the emergency services and advanced life support provided the skills needed to identify and respond to medical emergencies. I’d previously studied Psychology and I’m now a qualified Nutritional Therapist with a specialist interest in Nutrigenetics, all of which helped prepare me for the wide-ranging applications of this unique job role, based upon an appreciation of the human mind and body. I was initially brought into Williams as their Human Performance Specialist after being headhunted from the driver performance programme I was working on in endurance motorsport with Aston Martin Racing. Gaining a reputation for delivering World-Recording breaking achievements in the motorsport industry now means that head-hunters from other F1 teams find me and I am deployed as a consultant to revolutionize the corporate Human Performance programs that are responsible for the Pitcrew, drivers and the wider team. Currently working for Alfa Romeo Racing F1, I split my time between the Team’s HQ in Switzerland, International Grand Prix racetracks and my clinic in the UK. Nowadays, the multidisciplinary model is fundamental to how I operate. The whole premise of the clinic I have opened in Pangbourne, Berkshire, is built upon being a centre for Integrative Medicine. Working alongside a large spectrum of Health, Fitness and Complementary Therapy experts enables a truly holistic approach to be taken to develop bespoke packages of care to meet the varying needs of each individual. The course not only provides you with a thorough appreciation of all systems within the body and how they are interrelated but also teaches you a mindset and a philosophy about a holistic approach to problem solving. You can go on to specialise in a particular field but the fundamental understanding of ‘the body as a whole’ is a crucial foundation to the start of your career as an Osteopath. I enjoy the detective aspect of making a clinical diagnosis, analysing all the potential contributing factors and getting to the root cause of a patients symptoms, alongside understanding the unique lifestyle components that are impacting the presentation. Having the autonomy to then deliver a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation plan that is bespoke to the individual needs of the patient allowing you to facilitate often life changing results, gives job satisfaction that’s hard to beat. This is a career that will always keep you on your toes. You’ll need an open mind about the opportunity to continue to learn and be prepared to accept that you’ll need to adapt and evolve your practice as working with human body is an ever-changing art as we continue to expand our knowledge of how we function, heal and behave. The human form will continue to confuse and amaze you throughout your life as an osteopath but building on your experience whilst acknowledging the limit of your professional abilities will pave the way for a dynamic and rewarding lifelong passion. 19 Reading Road Pangbourne, RG8 7LRFormula Health Founder Gemma was proud to have been approached to feature at the centre of a recent national campaign by the Institute of Osteopathy to celebrate inspirational members of the Osteopathic profession whose hard work and determination have lead them to the top of their field.

Having now spent over 8 years working in Elite motorsport and embedding corporate health and human performance strategies in F1 teams, today we’re celebrating two years since Formula Health Consultancy Ltd was officially born!
Conceived as an illegitimate child between an unmarried parallel world where in western medicine, health seemed to be accepted as anything that is not in a disease state and Formula One where the teams will stop at nothing to achieve perfection in every aspect of their performance.
The unusual pairing resulted in the birthing of the concept of Formula Health.
Based on my unique experience of working as part of a team, extracting milliseconds on the racetrack from a comprehensive understanding of the interaction of an array of complex systems. Much like an interdisciplinary mindset of healthcare professionals working with the human body to achieve a common goal!
The idea has grown organically into the opening of our centre of integrated medicine in Berkshire, making this forward thinking approach to fitness and preventative healthcare accessible to all.
The current medical model in Western society is very much occupied in its own race. So our vision at Formula Health is to influence a paradigm shift in modern medicine to encourage people to protect and enhance their health and wellbeing in order to live more fulfilling lives.
Our mission to achieve this is by treating the whole body and mind, by being preventative and educating, providing the latest in medical technology from elite sport alongside established and holistic based practice, in turn resulting in the most comprehensive approach to individual healthcare.
After a particularly traumatic birth and
despite Covid-19 trying its hardest to make the toddler years since the clinic (first launched in 2019) live up to a reputation of Terrible Two’s…the centre in Pangbourne has thrived in its determination to deliver the highest quality in advanced integrated healthcare to our clients near and far.
We strive to pave the way to a more joined up approach to tackling our barriers to sustainable health and fitness, to continue to employ the groundbreaking medical technology that we are fortunate to have exposure to, whilst entwining the vast experience of the most effective ancient healthcare systems in the world.
We’re confident that this inclusive theorem will provide a stable upbringing for a powerful, informed model of integrated medicine, that will be self-led and empowering for all that follow this track, delivering life-changing results.
Ever grateful to all those that have been part of the ride so far and we’re excited to mould our own future for many more years to come ?
