DERMATOLOGY

What is a Dermatology assessment?

Dermatology is the branch of medicine focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing conditions related to the skin, hair, and nails. Our GP Specialist helps manage issues such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, hair loss, and skin cancer, using treatments that may include medications, skincare guidance, dietary & lifestyle advice and where apprpriate, minor surgical procedures.

Mole Mapping

With skin cancer incidence rising, we provide a meticulous approach to monitoring. Our assessments utilise dermoscopy—high-precision magnification under polarised light—to analyse micro-structures indistinguishable to the naked eye.

We capture high-resolution digital baselines to monitor subtle, incremental changes over time, providing the peace of mind that comes with professional vigilance

Minor Surgical Procedures

We provide a swift, GP-led service for benign skin concerns, prioritising clinical safety alongside aesthetic outcomes. Procedures are performed under local anesthesia in a calm, professional environment.

  • Clinical Scope: Expert removal of skin tags, moles, cysts, lipomas, and stubborn warts/verrucas.

  • Diagnostic Integrity: All tissue is sent for laboratory analysis to confirm a definitive diagnosis, with results communicated directly to you.

  • Bespoke Aftercare: Every patient receives a tailored recovery plan designed to ensure optimal healing and minimal scarring.

Safety Standards: We treat patients aged 18 and over. For lesions on anatomically complex areas (face, fingers, toes, or genitals), we provide guidance on finding the appropriate specialist care.

What to expect

A dermatology consultation usually begins with a discussion about your skin, hair, or nail concerns, your medical history, current medications, allergies, and lifestyle factors that may affect your condition. The dermatologist will then examine the affected areas — and sometimes your full skin surface if needed — to assess symptoms such as rashes, moles, acne, irritation, or hair loss.

Depending on the issue, the consultation may include:

  • A diagnosis or discussion of possible causes
  • Recommendations for skincare or lifestyle changes
  • Prescription creams, medications, or treatments
  • Minor in-office procedures such as skin biopsies, mole checks, or cryotherapy
  • Advice on follow-up appointments or long-term management

You may also be asked about family history, sun exposure, and previous treatments you’ve tried. Most consultations are straightforward and focused on creating a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Clinical Dermatology Consultations are typically used to help diagnose:

– Acne and breakouts
– Eczema and dermatitis
– Psoriasis
– Rosacea
– Allergic rashes and hives (urticaria)
– Fungal infections like athlete’s foot or ringworm
– Bacterial and viral skin infections (for example impetigo or shingles)
– Scalp conditions such as dandruff or seborrhoeic dermatitis
– Hair loss or thinning
– Nail infections and nail changes
– Suspicious moles or skin lesions that may need specialist review

GPs also help identify when a skin issue may require referral to a dermatologist, particularly for:

– Possible skin cancers
– Severe inflammatory skin disease
– Persistent or unclear rashes
– Rare skin disorders
– Cases not responding to standard treatment
