Good things come to those who wait...
Mike has worked as a management consultant for over 15 years designing, evaluating and implementing organisational change and transformation programmes for clients in the UK, Europe, US and Singapore. His approach is pragmatic, making sure that the programme’s objectives are firmly linked to the organisations strategy and focusing on meaningful outcomes. When it comes to corporate health and wellbeing programmes, the key success factors are to help people take an holistic view, educating people to be preventative rather than reactive and providing people with a truly personalised approach.
Working as a management consultant in corporate environments Mike found it important to keep active to help maintain a healthy balance. He successfully competed in numerous marathons which led him into endurance events. He completed the Marathon Des Sables, a 150 mile self-sufficient stage foot race, across the Moroccan desert. He has completed ultra marathons and attempted the Cape Epic, a 700km mountain bike stage race, in South Africa, which didn’t end so well. All these experiences have taught Mike the importance of preparation, nutrition and looking after your body and mind.
In 2015 the family moved to Singapore and this gave Mike the opportunity to explore new challenges. He discovered triathlon and competed as an age group athlete in all distances and successfully completed the Bintan 70.3 and Langkawi Ironman. He trained in boxing with a six time Filipino national champion. And also discovered yoga, he completed his 200HR YTT at Yoga Movement in Singapore. The studio was focused on making yoga accessible, helping people build strength, improve flexibility, posture and balance. This is an ethos that Mike very much shares. As an endurance athlete yoga has helped keep him injury free whilst improving performance. The breathing and mindfulness side of yoga has also helped to improve focus and resolve in training and competition. Mike’s style of yoga teaching is adapted to each client and class whether it be zen, gentle, core or flow.
Since returning from Singapore in 2018 Mike has been focused on ways to help people lead happier and healthier lives. His values are very much intertwined with Formula Health and sees the holistic approach, providing the latest in medical technology from elite sport alongside established based practice as a leading edge ethos.
“Mike is a great yoga teacher both in person and on Zoom. He’s keen to understand what you want to achieve and adjusts each session accordingly, using varied poses. The pace is ideal and I have noticed a marked improvement in my strength and balance. I recommend him to anyone.”
“Mike has been my yoga instructor through the Bradfield sports complex. I find Mikes style fun and engaging in that poses and options for the poses are explained. I would say that overall, my balance, flexibility, and core strength have improved a lot over the last 2 years. This has helped with other sports which I take part in, and injury prevention.”
“Thoroughly enjoyed the Wednesday yoga with Mike. Brilliant Classes”
