Good things come to those who wait...
Acupuncture is an effective health care practice which focuses mainly on nervous system. The treatment is a drug-free manual medicine that can support total body health. Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body stimulating the body to produce natural substances such as endogenous opioids and oxytocin resulting in improved energy and overall health. Traditional acupuncture is based on the belief that an energy, or “life force”, flows through the body in channels called meridians. This life force is known as Qi (pronounced “chee”). It is used in many NHS GP practices, as well as in most pain clinics and hospices in the UK.
We have extremely high-standard treatment facilities as well as a range of top health consultants on hand to help.
An initial acupuncture session usually lasts one hour and involves an assessment of your general health, medical history and a physical examination, followed by insertion of the acupuncture needles. It is recommended that you bring results from any recent blood test for the practitioner to study and be aware of. Courses of treatment often involve several separate sessions, but this can vary.
Your acupuncturist may need to access areas under your clothes, it may be easier for the practitioner to remove items of clothing. However, they do recommend wearing loose clothing so that sleeves can be rolled up above the elbows and trouser legs can be pulled up above the knees.
Feel free to bring your own towels with you for use on the treatment couch during the session.
